In complete contrast to my experience of pre-season friendlies (for example Barnet 0 Arsenal 0, Leyton Orient 1 Arsenal 1) the better team won today. 11-1 and all. I could launch into a lengthy description of our overwhelming of the opposition in this game but bollocks to it, here’s who scored:

7 minutes - Mark B headed emphatically from a corner.
23 minutes - Tom chipped to his brother Joe who chipped the keeper.
26 minutes - Will chipped the keeper from 20 yards out on the right.
33 minutes - Joe won the ball back in midfield, he fed Tom and Tom scored.
40 minutes - a through ball from James allowed Tom to score his second.
50 minutes - a trademark James beating every defender then curling it home.
52 minutes - after a good run Rich squared the ball and Big Phil tapped it in. With his toe I believe.
55 minutes - Mark headed corner no. 2.
72 minutes - glitch. Jim brought down a striker, turncoat Sean scored from the spot. Jim got a girl’s hand to it but to no avail.
79 minutes - Mark rounded off the Albion’s first ever centre half hat trick with, you guessed it, a header from a corner.
87 minutes - Rich hit a goal in off the post. Not that the keeper was anywhere near it.
90 minutes - Joe rounded off our scoring with a half volley from all of 25 yards.
So a fun game, fair play to AEA Technology’s team, I’ve seen our heads go down leading to a 21-0 capitulation before now but that was never going to happen tonight. Especially once Steve and Tom swapped positions. Anyway, it was good to have the time to practice passing, also two new lads played tonight and Joe in particular was impressive.

Man of the match: Tom for not killing James when the latter didn’t present him with the hat trick.
Our team: (4-4-2 r-l): JIm; Dom (MH Pete 60); Mark B, Steve, Richard K; James, Rich, Will (c), Joe; Joss (Big Phil 45), Tom.
