Our run of good pre-season form continued yesterday with a 5-2 win over Clissold Casuals, unfortunately sans Phil Daniels. It was a well mannered game apart from one of their lads kicking Tom, we passed the ball around well and also looked handy on the break.

Matt C (the larger Matt that is) got our first, James played a great ball through for him and he took the chance well. The Albion then had a fair few attempts throughout the first half before Jim took a trademark free kick into the top corner, this was more impressive even than usual as he was a good forty yards out. That was pretty much the last kick of the first half; everyone seemed to enjoy the oranges more than usual at half time (ie they were edible) so I’m switching my supplier.

Clissold got one back seven minutes after the break, Rob got sort of tangled up with the ball outside his area and the striker kept his nerve to score from distance. Soon afterwards Brian had to go off after Mark and he went for the same header and he came out worse. Quote of the season so far, when asked (still on the pitch) if he’d like some ice for his head he said he’d rather have a beer.
The Albion got their next via a fine piece of unselfish play when Mikey squared the ball for Tom to tap it home, then Clissold got another that I can’t remember much about, must have been lighting a fag. Tom got our fourth when he slid in to make contact with Alex’s header across goal, then Joss made it 5-2 with five minutes on the clock, a very nice shot from distance.
So we’re looking good for the coming season, in the last two friendlies we’ve beaten our first month’s opponents 6-1 and 5-2, ok so they haven’t had a summer of games as we have but that’s their lookout. Our last friendly is on Thursday against St. Francis Vanalli at 8pm. And then there’s also training which will commence a week on Monday at Highbury Fields so try and keep Monday nights free from now on.
