The Albion had a very good result last night, we beat Edexcel 6-2 in a game where we rarely looked anything other than comfortable. Joss got our first after a good move down the right in what was to prove a pattern for the game - when we passed and kept it simple as likely as not we made a goal scoring opportunity. With the score 1-0 at half time the Reds looked solid at the back and were definitely winning the midfield battle with James dropping back to help out.
Edexcel got one back soon after the break but James got us ahead soon afterwards, he beat several men and sensibly ignored my shouts to square the ball and finished well. Sean scored with a header a few minutes later, Edexcel got another to make it 3-2 then James restored our two goal buffer after typically good movement from Jim and Will down the left. He completed his hat trick a few minutes later, and was also unlucky not to get four with a long range effort that pinged off the post across the goal. The icing on the cake was provided by Aidan when he calmly took the ball round the keeper for number six.
Everyone played well for the win, Mark B and Rob organised the defence well while Ken made some superb last ditch tackles, Irish Pete and Will got forward to good effect but also covered at the back. We looked best when playing the ball down the wings, Jim and Sean both worked to good effect, Aidan and Rich provided most of that creative spark in spotting their runs in the first place. And both strikers held the ball up well and also scored themselves. Man of the match is James who had a great game, in the thick of everything which is great for a forward as well as taking his chances in style.
The team (4-4-2 r-l): Rob; Irish Pete, Ken, Mark B, Will (c); Sean (MH Pete 75), Aidan, Rich, Jim; James, Joss (Mark S 75)
