The knife-edge that the game rested on for much of the match
was completely tipped in St John's favour due to a familiar
looking linesman. His consistently bad decisions cost us dearly
on numerous occasions, flagging for every poor throw, dodgy
tackle, and punted clearance.
His reign of terror culminated in the referee awarding
St Johns no less than four penalties.
He was obviously on the take, as after the match, I saw him
counting up his fourteen pound coins, and rubbing his hands
with glee. "Lovely Jubbly," he said.
